THE WOMEN BEHIND IT

“I am enough. I did enough. I can let go.”

THE QUOTE THAT STARTED IT ALL

More than 600,000 women of color have been laid off in the last six months alone. Behind every one of those numbers is a woman sitting with a fear she can't say out loud. What do I do now? Who can I call? Who will actually understand what I’m going through? How am I going to pay my bills next month? Am I allowed to be this angry? I’m scared if I cry, I may never stop.

The Resting Space exists because of an unexpected moment in my own life that made something painfully clear: I had people who loved me, and I still felt completely alone. Not because they didn't care, but because they couldn't quite carry what I was carrying. They didn't know the specific weight of it.

I've spent 25 years creating spaces for teams, leaders, and communities and know what it looks like when people finally feel like they belong. It's quiet. It's physical. The shoulders drop, the voice changes, she stops editing herself mid-sentence. But I had never quite found a space where I personally felt safe.

So I built it.

Not a network. Not a platform. Rather a place where I could fall apart a little and be held by women who don't need me to explain why.

The Resting Space is a membership community and intimate in-person experience for women of color who are done doing life alone.

You don't have to be okay here. That's the whole point.

Vision Steward, The Resting Space

For a long time, I wore my busy-ness like a badge of honor. As a wife, a mom, and a dedicated professional, my default setting was always on the go. I grew accustomed to running on empty to get things done. But the truth? I was exhausted and giving 100% to every area of my life while running on fumes. I wouldn't slow down so my body finally stepped in like "Since you won't choose rest, sis, I'll choose it for you!" It sat me all the way down for weeks! I thought my body was failing me at first, but it was really just giving me the grace and rest I wouldn't give myself.

My career has always been fueled by a deep passion for people, hearing stories, understanding journeys, building communities, and supporting growth. However, it was through the reflection of a personal loss that I truly realized the importance of pouring back into myself.

The Resting Space is a reflection of that journey. It’s a community built from my own lived experience, designed to give women permission to finally slow down, breathe, and find collective rest.

We are in this together!
